Shop and stop offers cloth bags!

Today, since my mom was really busy cooking for this religious thingi that we have to go to, I was sent to buy some groceries. =(...something we all hate.

and I found that Stop and Shop stores offer cloth bags that can be reused and recycled. But you have to buy it ofcourse and it's only 99 cents for one bag. I don't think it has anything to do with global warming (possibly) but I'm an environmentalist none the less, so I got the cloth bag. It's awesome that stop and shop offers those bags, it only goes to show how much they care for the environment. One plastic bag can taker over a hundred years to decompose! so that's definitely not good for the environment.

However, before I went to stop and shop, I went to National Liquidator to get some batteries...and a plactic bag to put it in!..hehhe..deffo bad.

IHS holds a Fusion on GW!

Last wednesday, my school IHS held a fusion on global warming. It went surprisingly well & hopefully, people will change their habits.

OH, don't forget.. THIS SUNDAY IS EARTH DAY!!..SO DO SOMETHING, TURN OFF THE HOT WATER, PLANT A TREE/PLANT (don't if you live in a cold place), DON'T TURN ON THE AC since it'll be a hot weekend, DON'T STAY ON THE COMPUTER FOR TOO LONG, DON'T USE TOO MUCH ELECTRICITY, SHUT OFF MACHINES WHEN NOT IN USE etc. Find events that are happening in your area or in central park or whatever. There must be some kind of event & I'm sure it'll be fun. Just google (google.com) it or goodsearch (goodsearch.com) it. I prefer goodsearch since everytime you search, a little bit money goes to a charity of you choice.

The school took a lot of pictuers of the event. I got them from the school website. Here are pics from the event:

Fusion - April 18, 2007

Even the school's staff check their ecological footprints.

That's all. I'm sooooo glad that our school students are so involved with enviromental issues. Now I just hope the school takes more actions on the issue.

we STEPPED UP.

Image and video hosting by <span class=

Yea. The rally was a lot of fun!! Today, there were Step Up rallies just like the one in NYC in all 50 or 49 states..idk...because it's National Climate Action day. Luckily, it was on the news..but I didn't see me!!..hehe.. There were a lot more people than I expected & I also bumped into my fellow Global Kids.. I didn't know they were coming but it were awesome. There were a few speakers..an evangelical leader who stressed on the environment in the name of god..then this guy spoke..he had graduated from Harvard and got some other degree in bio from Yale..yea so he did a brief speech on the science of Global Warming..there were a few other speakers who spoke on the relationship between the Global Warming's effects and the minorities. Namita from GK gave a speech also. & I saw Thitapa there & I took tonnnsssss of pictures to share on the blog & one totally rad video!!!

i was taping the video with my camera. GK, enthusiastic as always.

I was half an hour late to the rally...because I kind of got lost...I wasn't sure if I was in the right train or not..until I met some other folks on the train that were also on the way there. So I and others who weren't so sure followed them. We had stopped at South Ferry but we weren't on the first 5 cabins!! so then we got off at Rutners st and walked to Battery Park. The person I & others followed..lol.. :

GK! OK!

So this lady was giving out these leaflets about vegetarianism & I totally support her. Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Because:

  • The meat industry causes more water pollutin in the U.S. than all other industries combined because animals raised for food prodce 130 times more excrement than the entire human population does. --86,000 ounds per second! & it pollutes our rivers & lakes more than all other industries combined.
  • Nearly 80% of all agricultural land in America is used to raise animals for food.
  • Meat production causes Global Warming. There is methane in the poop of animals. Methane is a greenhouse gas just like carbon dioxide, except it's 20 times worse than carbon dioxide because it traps much more heat than carbon dioxide making the earth warmer. It's not just one or two animals pooping, it's hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of factories of animals pooping.
  • Raising animals for food requires more than one third of all raw materials and fossil fuels used in the U.S. They include--fuel to produce crops that are fed to animals, oil to run the trucks that take them to the slaughter house, electricity to freeze their carcuses & much more.
Being a vegetarian could save the planet. You can look at it as a moral issue or an environmental issue but then again everybody has to make their own decisions & their own commitments. Or you can atleast cut down on how much meat you eat.

These girls were swimming in the pit like fishes in the sea. They were doing the moves & people were clapping for them..it was pretty cool.
